As usual, when I don't blog it means that a lot is going on in my life. I have found that in the past few years, there is always a lot going on in my life. In the O household, there is never a dull moment.
We are waiting to find out if Dr. O passed the step 2 retake. If he passed, then he graduates. If he did not then, he will withdraw and our days in medicine will come to a close. We are at peace with this decision. He and I have prayed both separately and jointly and feel this is the right choice. Though, I would support him if he choose to continue forth. However, he is done.
It has been a hard road for him to chose between family and medicine. Someone has to come up short and usually for better or worse, it has been medicine. He knows his stuff but the testing somehow does not reflect that. At the end of the day though, he does not want to sacrifice his relationship with his wife or children for the job. Sadly, the student's often have to do just that.
So.. to that end. We wait for another 5 weeks. If he passes then he will move forward in medicine. If he does not, life will go on.
He will however, even he passes and goes forward in medicine not apply for residency until next match year which some of you know is in March of next year. He will have nearly a year off, before the match. While that is not ideal for a student, it is doable.
In the meantime, we have chosen to move to a different state. We will be in a better position financially, be closer to family, and live a normal life for a while. Even if only for a year. It will be a nice change from the constant changes and imbalances, and absences of medical school.
He is leaving tomorrow to go to the new state and find a job. We will follow in about 3 weeks and move on and our new little person will be born there.
I have also decided to do a home birth. I am a little nervous and kind of excited about that too. More to come on that...
Keep prayers coming our way...
